CAMHS stands for child and adolescent mental health service. We provide mental health assessment and treatment for children and young people aged 0 to 18, and support for their families in Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Hounslow.
We’re not a hospital and we don’t have beds, but we do have many different specialists who are experts in children’s and young people’s emotional and mental health.
We work with children and young people to promote emotional wellbeing and provide treatment for mental health problems. We offer talking therapies and where appropriate medication. We may offer help on an individual, family or group basis.
We also work with schools and other organisations to support young people.
Our mental health professionals work in a number of multi-agency teams across Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Hounslow, which may be led by other agencies such as social services.
We work in many different ways with young people, depending on their needs.
- We support teachers, youth workers and people working with young people by offering them support and training on how to spot mental health difficulties
- We employ specialist mental health workers to work with children and young people with mild or moderate mental health difficulties
- Our psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers and community nurses provide more specialist services. These professionals work with children and young people with complex mental health difficulties, as well as supporting you
- We also work with and support children and young people who may need very specialist treatment, which could involve hospital care.
