The research delivery service at Lakeside Mental Health Unit is a specialist service that provides assessment, treatment and support for people experiencing mental health problems and cognitive difficulties.
All patients are offered the opportunity to be involved in clinical trials or research programmes aimed at pushing the frontiers of new treatments and knowledge for mental and cognitive health conditions.
The clinic holds the Good Clinical Practice international quality standard, provided by the International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH-GCP), and has a number of standard operating procedures which are in place for any research that takes place on site.

Trials and research programmes are conducted under the strict ethical oversight of the Trust’s Ethics Committee. No patient is obliged to be part of these trials, nor will it affect their access to care in any way. If a patient decides not to participate, they will still be treated using the best methods currently available.
Our facilities provide a comfortable environment for all participants and are well equipped to conduct cutting edge research. These include:
- A lab room equipped with fridge and freezer for sample storage, centrifuge for sample processing
- Consultation rooms
- An infusion suite
- Meeting room
- Offices for clinical staff.
