Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held virtually on Tuesday 13 July 2021.

64 people attended to hear the chief executive’s review of the year 2020/21, a financial overview from our director of finance and business and the latest developments in local services, particularly on Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) from our clinical director of community and mental health recovery services.

The highlight of the meeting was hearing about the experiences of two service users who told their personal stories of illness and recovery. Tania spoke about her experience of using the Trust’s perinatal mental health services and Aaron talked about his experience of child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), inpatient services and community recovery services.

There was also discussion around the recently formed carers’ council and what the Trust is doing to recruit more members.

The AGM panel took questions from attendees on the following issues:

Response:

Our plans for upgrading parts of our estate and old buildings e.g. the Tony Hillis Wing on our St Bernard’s site.

This is a priority within our forensic services and we have a good track record of upgrading our estates in recent years as exemplified by Broadmoor Hospital and Thames Lodge.

Where do we fit in with the work of primary care networks and provider collaboratives? And what are they?

Our work in relation to primary care networks is about making services more accessible and responsive to the needs of local people. This is exemplified by our Mental Health Integrated Network Teams.

Provider collaboratives are about large NHS trusts working together more closely to ensure a better service for patients. In our case, it mainly relates to how we work with Central & North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL), but it will extend to other neighbouring provider trusts as well.

How can I get more involved with learning disability services?

All contact information is on this section of our website.

How do I join the carers’ council?

There is more information available on this page of our website or you can email Gillian.kelly@westlondon.nhs.uk

What additional support is in place for our staff with regards to dealing with the demands of the pandemic and ensuring services are still able to operate?

This was summarised in the chief executive’s presentation – please see link here.

There were also three questions about issues that fall outside of the remit of our Trust:

Size of GP patient practice lists in Heston.

This should be raised at the North West London CCGs AGM – more information here.

Proposed redevelopment work and planning application in Heston that may impact on healthcare provision.

This should be raised at the North West London CCGs AGM – more information here.

Restarting of community services in Hounslow, particularly in relation to home visits.

This should be raised with Hounslow & Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust – more information here.
