The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care in England.  The CQC monitors our performance in a number of ways, including visiting our sites, to ensure that we provide safe, effective and high quality care.

The most recent inspection of the Trust by the Care Quality Commission took place in January-February 2020.

The Trust retained its rating of Good overall.

The inspection report is available here:  www.cqc.org.uk/provider/RKL

We publish a quality account every year.

Our quality account describes our work over the previous year and our priorities for the year ahead. This report sets out how we’re improving the quality of the services we provide.

We report to the Department of Health and Social Care under the Performance in Initiating and Delivering Clinical Research Initiative. This is in response to the Government’s plan to see sustained improvement in the performance of NHS providers which start and deliver clinical research, with the aim of increasing the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research.

The Trust is required to publish information about whether we set up and deliver research in a timely manner. As part of this, we provide information on:

  • Recruitment to clinical trials: whether the 70-day benchmark to recruit the first patient into a trial has been met.
    (Performance in initiating clinical research)
  • Recruiting the target number of patients to a trial within the target time performance in delivering clinical research.
    (Performance in delivering clinical research).
